Welcome to the Union County Middle School website. This will be my fourteenth year at UCMS and my third year as principal. We are so very proud of the accomplishments we have achieved over the last few years, which include being named a National School to Watch and a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. We have an action team in place to develop a plan to integrate all the principles from Leader in Me into the many activities that happen on a daily basis. We plan to focus on three main aspects to ensure each and every student is successful.
First, we are going to create a student involved learning environment where all students are active participants in the learning process. This includes being involved in many school culture building activities such as student jobs and student led parent conferences.
We also plan on assessing students by monitoring individual growth and to determine focus areas and standards not mastered with individual students. We want to make sure that our instruction and student time is based on individual needs for individual growth. We understand that each of our students are different and want to maximize our success by using data that focuses on those differences.
Lastly, we plan to continually monitor and curtail our instructional practices to be as effective as possible in helping our students be successful. We have made it a priority to create student centered environments that are based off of the characteristics of highly effective teaching and learning.
I am excited to be the principal of this school. The teachers, administration, and staff at UCMS are completely invested in your child’s education, and we believe there is no limit to our students’ potential. Our goal is to make sure every student that passes through the door here at UCMS has the best possible foundation on his or her road to becoming college and career ready.
In addition, I have an open door policy and encourage any student, parent, or teacher to come by or call whenever they may have a question. I look forward to being part of the bright future here at Union County Middle School.
