Background Check Requirements

Union County Public Schools is committed to ensuring that we maintain a safe learning environment for our students, staff members, and community; therefore, in compliance with 922 KAR 1:470 and the emergency designation under KRS 160.380, all applicants must present a letter from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) stating that the applicant has no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect.

This provision is effective immediately, and applies to all new staff, student teachers, members of Site-Based Decision-Making (SBDM) councils, and contracted employees.

The Kentucky Department for Community Based Services (DCBS), an agency of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services will no longer accept paper forms after July 31, 2020. Beginning August 1, 2020, all CAN Registry checks must be submitted through the online system. The program and user instructions are available through the Kentucky Online Gateway (KOG): https://kog.chfs.ky.gov/home/   The cost is $10.00 and only online payments are accepted. You will be asked to enter your personal information and create an account. Results will be available to you and to Union County Schools.
