Union County Public Schools is committed to ensuring that we maintain a safe learning environment for our students, staff members, and community; therefore, in compliance with 922 KAR 1:470 and the emergency designation under KRS 160.380, all applicants must present a letter from the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) stating that the applicant has no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect.
This provision is effective immediately, and applies to all new staff, volunteers, student teachers, members of Site-Based Decision-Making (SBDM) councils, and contracted employees.
The link above entitled "CAN Check" can be used to download the form required to request this letter. The instructions on page 2 state that the applicant must enclose a check or money order for $10 (made out to the "Kentucky State Treasurer") along with the completed application for processing or the application will not be processed. UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES, A NATIONAL CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK MAY BE REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT."
