Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment

Welcome to the UCPS Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.  We are responsible for providing help and support to teachers concerning curriculum and instruction.  We are also responsible for ensuring that local and state assessments are conducted appropriately, timely, and according to all state and federal guidelines.  We disaggregate and report data as it is released.  We take pride in providing superior customer service and work diligently to meet the needs of our UCPS family.

Students participate in both state and local assessments.  Locally, students in grades K-8 take STAR assessments 3-4 times per year in reading, math, and early literacy (K-1).  Students in grades 9-12 may participate in STAR Reading and STAR Math.  These assessments help teachers and families with ideas for helping students with reading and math skills. 
 
State required assessments are also given throughout the school year.  All students in grades 3-8, and grades 10-11 participate in Kentucky Summative Assessment each spring.  Assessments vary according to grade level.  Grade 11 students also participate in spring ACT testing.  For more information about state assessments please click the link below.
