Family Resource Centers

Family Resource & Youth Services Centers (FRYSC) were created as part of the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) with the goal of assisting students and families to overcome noncognitive barriers to student learning. Our FRYSC centers provide support in the areas of basic needs (food, clothing, hygiene, etc.), school attendance, social skills, crisis response, and community partnerships. They also offer many awareness programs for students and families to enhance quality of life.

FRYSC Advisory Councils

Union County Public Schools would like to invite you to join our Advisory Council. As a parent, school staff, student, or community member, your perspective is crucial to our mission of serving the needs of our students and their families.  The core principle of our program is to be community-focused and collaborative. We believe that by working together, we can build a strong support system for our school and the wider community in Union County.

Why the Advisory Council Matters

The Advisory Council plays a vital role by:

  • Providing a Broad Base of Support for our programs and initiatives.
  • Creating Two-Way Communication between our center’s Coordinator and the community.
  • Building Rapport for the Coordinator and the center within the community.
  • Evaluating Ongoing Programs to ensure they are effective and relevant.
  • Aiding in planning future programs and filling them with community members.
  • Keeping Groups and Clubs Informed about our activities and resources.
  • Uncovering Potential Problems in the community so we can be proactive in our support.

Simply put, the council helps make our Youth Services Center community-centered rather than just school-driven.
