Hall of Fame Information:

 

Committee Members:

Jeremy Tackett—Athletic Director

Nathan Tanner—Assistant Athletic Director and Teacher

Evelyn Meacham—Board Member, UCHS graduate and Former UCHS Coach

John Robinson—Local Businessman, Voice of the Braves and Founding Committee Member

Doby Waggener—Local Businessman and UCHS Graduate

Ehren Schaffter—Community Member, UCHS Graduate and Founding Committee Member

David Jenkins—Community Member, UCHS Graduate, UCB representative

 

Purpose:

To recognize our rich tradition of excellence in athletics and honor those who have made valuable contributions to our athletic programs.

 

Qualifications/criteria:

  • Those nominated as players should have graduated from Union County High School no later than ten years previously.
  • If nominated as a player, the nominee should have an exceptional, verifiable record in one or more sports in his or her former high school and/or collegiate or professional career.
  • Former coaches of Union County High School are eligible for nomination, provided they are no longer coaching.
  • Also eligible are individuals who have made outstanding contributions as supporters of the athletic programs of UCHS.
  • Nominees should be of good character and should stand as good role models. Inductees who are convicted of a felony offense are subject to removal from the hall of fame.

Number of Inductees:

The Union County High School Athletic Hall of Fame will inductee between two and four new members each year. The induction ceremony will be held on the Saturday after the first home football game. Inductees will be recognized at halftime of Friday night’s football game.

 

Time Frame:

The committee will begin accepting nominations starting March 1 of each year, with nomination deadlines set for April 1 of each year. The committee will meet and select the current year hall of fame induction class no later than May 15 each year. Future class inductees will be notified immediately and the class will be made public by August 1 of each year.

 

Nominations:

Nominations for the Union County High School Hall of Fame are accepted in March each year. When making a nomination please include as much documentation as possible (e.g. copies of newspaper clippings, yearbooks, awards, etc.). The more documentation the committee has at hand the better overall evaluation they will have of the nominee. A completed nomination form needs be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the person making the nomination, and other letters of support from appropriate individuals from the nominee’s related high school career.
