UCPS sets goal of raising one million pennies for Drew Walking Tall

Drew All schools in the Union County Public Schools district will be taking part in a fundraiser in partnership with the Eagles Club and WMSK during the months of February/March for the Drew Gatten family.

We are hosting a coin drive in each of our buildings. The goal is to collect a million pennies (or the equivalent) by the end of March. Drew is a preschool student at Morganfield Elementary School and the school kicked off the Coin Drive with a special assembly Monday morning in honor of Drew. As Drew's school family, MES set a school goal to raise a million pennies in their school alone! Drew was also celebrating his birthday yesterday.

Superintendent Patricia Sheffer supports this campaign and feels that the schools are fortunate to be in a position to help out the Gatten family with this fundraising effort. To further support this fundraising effort, Sheffer has encouraged staff members to purchase one of the Drew Walking Tall t-shirts and will allow staff to wear jeans on any day they wear their Drew t-shirts.
