UCPS Names Familiar Faces to Key Leadership Positions

Two veteran educators will serve in new leadership roles with Union County Public Schools this school year.

Mr. Blaine Hunter has been selected as the new Director of Personnel and Intermediate Instruction.  In this role, he’ll be responsible for overseeing human resources for the district including employee hiring and retention, educator certification, staff evaluation systems, and professional development and training.  He’ll also provide curriculum and instructional support for middle and high school teachers and administrators.

For the past seven years, Mr. Hunter has guided Sturgis Elementary School as principal. Prior to that, he served as a teacher at Union County High School. “I am honored to step into this new role with our school district,” shared Mr. Hunter. “My goal is to foster school environments where our staff feels supported and inspired to bring out the Character of a Brave in all our students.”

The new principal of Sturgis Elementary School is a familiar face - longtime educator Mrs. Stephanie Hargrove. Mrs. Hargrove is a National Board Certified Teacher who brings nearly three decades of professional experience. After 28 years as a teacher in Union County Public Schools, she served last year as the assistant principal at Crittenden County Elementary School.

Mrs. Hargrove now returns to Union County to lead Sturgis Elementary, the same school where she spent 27 years as a classroom teacher. “Returning to the place that means so much to me truly feels like coming home,” Hargrove expressed. “I cannot wait to meet and reconnect with the amazing students, staff, and families who make Sturgis Elementary such a special place. I look forward to working together to build on the strong traditions of our school while creating a positive, supportive, and successful environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.”

Congratulations to Mr. Blaine Hunter and Mrs. Stephanie Hargrove!  We look forward to the positive contributions each one will make in their new roles!
