The Union County Braves are entering a season of transformation. After graduating nine seniors who filled the majority of last year’s starting lineup and pitching rotation, the 2026 squad will have a fresh look.
But while the roster is young, the energy is high. Longtime head coach Chad Robison, who has been the Braves skipper since 2010, is energized by this new wave of athletes. "I’m really excited about coaching this group," he emphasized.
He also pointed out that while many players lack experience at the varsity level, they carry a lot of talent. Most have played together for years in youth leagues, travel ball, middle school, and JV squads. Now, they have a chance to show their skills at the next level. Robison likes their love for the game and drive to improve.
While the Second Region is once again strong with several powerhouse teams, Robison is confident the Braves have what it takes to be competitive. He believes they will overcome their inexperience and finish better than people expect. He also foresees this group developing into a force to be reckoned with throughout their high school career.
This year’s Braves roster will feature four seniors. Veterans Wil Bolden, Graycen O’Daniel, and Luke Duckworth will return to help lead the team. The trio will also be joined by a new face - exchange student Liam Yoshida who the team welcomes from Japan.
The Braves open their season at home tonight at 5:30 against the Crittenden County Rockets. Best wishes on an exciting and successful season! Go Braves!
