This season, the Union County Bravettes aren't just taking the field; they’re building a foundation. With a new face at the helm and a clear vision for the future, the team is ready for an exciting season.
While Erin Danhauer is entering her first year as head coach, she is far from a stranger to the Union County community. A veteran educator with 16 years of teaching experience and seven years of coaching youth sports, Danhauer brings a deep-rooted passion for the program. (She's even a former Bravette herself!)
Her primary mission is to build a positive culture in the program through relationships and connections with players, parents, and the community. She wants her players to be more than just athletes—she’s pushing for high academic standards, personal integrity, and active community involvement. The goal is to create a culture the community can be proud of.
The Bravettes are young this year, but they aren't lacking in leadership. The squad will lean heavily on a core group of four veteran seniors who have become staples in the program: Ashlynn Hargrove, Miley Mendoza, Miley Mosley, and Audrey Staley. These four will be the anchors for a roster that is eager to learn and ready to compete.
But the Bravettes certainly aren't taking the easy route. Coach Danhauer has intentionally looked to build a challenging schedule, adding games with quality opponents like Apollo and Owensboro Catholic. She believes playing against tough competition will help the team grow stronger in the long run and prepare them for the postseason.
Currently, the Ky Prep Softball Pre-Season Coaches Poll has the Bravettes ranked 10th in the region. Rather than seeing that as a ceiling, the team is using it as fuel. Coach Danhauer and her squad are motivated to climb those rankings one game at a time, believing that their culture-first approach will translate to wins on the diamond.
Ultimately, Danhauer wants her players to be competitive and enjoy their time together on the field. "At the end of the day, it’s a game that’s supposed to be fun," she highlighted.
The fun starts this Wednesday at Livingston County, as the Bravettes take the field for their season opener against the Lady Cardinals. Next will be their home opener against Crittenden County on Friday. Best wishes to the team on an exciting and successful season! Go Bravettes!
