Union County High School students are getting hands-on training for manufacturing careers thanks to a partnership with Henderson Community College. Each month, a group of eleven selected students will travel to HCC to take part in the MAINTech Seminar series—interactive sessions designed to build both technical and workplace skills.
MAINTech, which stands for Multi-skilled Advanced Industrial Maintenance Training, is a program that prepares students for future careers in manufacturing or continued education in the field. Over the course of the school year, students will strengthen their academic, technical, and interpersonal skills while exploring key topics such as:
- General Hand & Power Tools
- Lean Operations
- Problem Solving
- Safety & Universal Precaution
- Workplace Principles
The first seminar, held last week, focused on teamwork in manufacturing. Students participated in activities that challenged them to serve as team captains, solve puzzles collaboratively, practice active listening, and construct a structure based on provided specifications. Their next visit is scheduled for October 16.
Union County Public Schools is grateful for this partnership with Henderson Community College and the valuable opportunities it provides our students.
