Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, new rules from the Kentucky Department of Education will change how schools can give your child over-the-counter (OTC) medications.
This means that for your child to receive any OTC medicine at school, such as ibuprofen, cough drops, or antacids, we will need two things:
- A written order from a doctor or other licensed medical provider.
- Your signed permission as a parent.
To make this process easier, we recommend you bring the necessary form to your child's next check-up so your doctor can sign it.
