Union County Board of Education Accepts Resignation of Don Yarber

At Monday’s regular meeting, the Union County Board of Education voted to accept the resignation of board member Don Yarber, effective immediately. Mr. Yarber cited health reasons for his decision. He had served on the Board since January as the representative for District 3.

“We thank Mr. Yarber for his time and service, and we wish him the best,” acknowledged Board Chairperson Jennifer Buckman.

The Board will seek applications to fill the District 3 vacancy by appointment and will provide notice within the next 30 days with instructions on how to apply. The appointment will be made within 60 days and will remain in effect until the next regular election in November 2026. At that time, a board member will be elected to complete the remainder of the term, which runs through January 1, 2029.

“We are grateful to Mr. Yarber for his willingness to serve,” added Superintendent Dr. Terra Hancock.  “As we move forward, we remain committed to working together with our Board to build a district where students succeed with confidence, character, and bravery.”
