Veteran UCPS Educators Begin New Leadership Roles

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we’d like to officially welcome several veteran UCPS educators who have recently transitioned into new leadership roles.

Mrs. Kelli Willett is now serving as assistant principal at Union County High School.  Mrs. Willett holds 22 years of experience as an educator including the last 15 years at Morganfield Elementary School.  Most recently, she served as the Certified School Manager at MES.  “I am truly honored to accept this new role at UCHS,” Willett shared.  “I know I am joining a strong school culture synonymous with excellence, dedication, and collaboration.”

Mrs. Willett is excited to serve as an instructional leader who will work collaboratively with teachers to make a positive impact on students' growth and learning in the classroom. “As the assistant principal,” she highlighted, “I will work diligently with Mrs. Nelson, our faculty and staff, and community to carry out the vision and mission of Union County High School.”

Mrs. Lori Steward has been selected as the new Certified School Manager at Morganfield Elementary School.  Mrs. Steward has taught at MES for 17 years and brings many ideas, hopes, and dreams for the school in her new role.  Encouraging positive student behavior and maintaining a safe learning environment for students and staff will be her top priorities.

“I am so excited about starting the school year in this new position as our Certified School Manager,” Steward reflected.  “I love Morganfield Elementary and want all students to have a purpose and feel valued. We have so many positive things going on at MES and I want it to continue.”

Sturgis Elementary School will also have a new Certified School Manager this year, and Mrs. Wendy Hibbs has been selected for that role.  Mrs. Hibbs has 23 years of teaching experience in Union County Public Schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Most recently, she served as a 5th grade teacher at Morganfield Elementary.  She is excited to join SES to provide help and support to students and staff in her new role.

“Sturgis Elementary School has earned a positive reputation for celebrating diversity, achieving academic excellence, and the use of classroom management strategies as a learning tool,” she emphasized.  “It is my desire to reach students who may be struggling to learn, make all feel safe in their learning environment, and assist any colleague needing assistance with classroom management.”

Mrs. Willett, Mrs. Steward, and Mrs. Hibbs have already begun serving eagerly in their new roles to prepare for the upcoming school year.  They look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in their students, schools, and communities.
