Union County Schools would like to provide our students with nutritious meals during the Christmas break. Due to the overwhelming response for meals sent out for the Thanksgiving break, we ordered enough meals for EVERY student in the district to have a 15-day supply of food. Currently, our distributor has confirmed a 5-day supply and we are hoping the full 15-days will be available soon.
If the delivery to us goes smoothly, each student can receive 15 pre-packaged breakfast meals and 15 lunch meals which will include cereal, waffles, and muffins, pizza, pasta, chicken nuggets and meatloaf for lunch, just to name a few items. All items are pre-packaged and frozen and will arrive in 3 large cardboard boxes and (2) one-gallon jugs of milk. If you are receiving these meals, you will definitely need to make room in your refrigerator and freezer.
We are distributing these meals through bus delivery as well as pick-up.
The first round of delivered meals will got out via our existing Blue and White bus routes. Blue Group bus rider meals will be delivered the morning of Thursday December 17th and White Group bus rider meals the morning of Friday December 18th. We will try to drop meals off at the normal pick-up time; however, be prepared for a 30 minute delivery window. Due to the size of meal packs, parents should come to the bus to help collect meals if possible.
Virtual students and car riders may pick meals up from the high-school lower parking lot from 12 noon until 5:30pm on Friday December 18th oruntil all meals are dispensed. These meals will be available to anyone under 18, including JPII students. Students are not required to be in the vehicle; however, Each student will only receive one 15-day meal package. YOu will have to sign your acceptance of the meals in advance electronically or by paper upon pickup.
If you have both virtual and bus riders in your household, all students in the home will be able to get meals via the bus delivery.
Last but certainly not least, we need your help to make go smoothly. Please complete a very short online survey to let us know if you are able to accept meals via existing blue/white bus schedule or if you would rather pick meals up at the high school or not receive meals at all.
