Title I

Title I, Part A is one of many federal programs. Title I, Part A provides formula grants to districts. Districts then allocate funds to Title I schools based on their number of low-income children. The district must use Title I funds only in schools that have been selected for services through allowable procedures. Funds are used to improve student achievement in high poverty schools.

Title I works to give all children a chance to learn at higher academic standards. Its purpose is to prevent failure by ensuring that more children experience success in school in order to be college and career ready.

For more information about Title I, please see the attached brochure.

Because our district receives federal funds for Title I programs as a part of the Every Student Succeeds  Act (ESSA), you may request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) and paraprofessional(s), if applicable.

If you would like to request this information, please contact Tamala Howard by phone at 270-389-1694 or by email at [email protected].

Please include the following information in your request:

    1. Your child’s name
    2. Name of the school your child attends
    3. Name of your child’s teacher(s)
    4. An address or email address where the information may be sent

Testing Transparency

Sections 1112(e)(2)(A)-(B) of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires testing transparency. Schools/District will report, as feasible, assessments required districtwide by the state or local educational agency, including—

(i) the subject matter assessed;

(ii) the purpose for which the assessment is designed and used;

(iii) the source of the requirement for the assessment; and

(iv) where such information is available—(I) the amount of time students will spend taking the assessment, and the schedule for the assessment; and (II) the time and format for disseminating results.

Information about these requirements can be found on the Kentucky Department of Education’s Assessments webpage (https://education.ky.gov/AA/Assessments/Pages/default.aspx). For further questions or to obtain a hard copy of this material please contact Tamala Howard at 270-389-1694 or [email protected].
