Amy Nelson Brings Champion Spirit to New Role as UCHS Principal

Union County Public Schools is excited to welcome Amy Nelson as principal of Union County High School!  Mrs. Nelson has served at UCHS for over 20 years as a teacher, curriculum specialist, and administrator including the last 10 years as assistant principal.  In her role as principal, she is focusing on fulfilling the district and school mission.  “I want to revisit our vision: Inspiring the Champion Within,” she highlighted. “My school family and community inspire me every day. I sincerely thank you for your inspiration; in turn, please know that I strive to be your champion.”

Mrs. Nelson is encouraged by recent accomplishments and experiences by UCHS students and staff members, but she believes bigger and better things are coming.  “Throughout my 24 years in education, I have never looked more forward to the year ahead of us.”

Since beginning her new role on July 1, she’s been eagerly collaborating with many members of the school community to plan exciting and successful learning opportunities for UCHS students.  In those planning sessions, she’s been motivated by stakeholders’ enthusiasm as they’ve shared ideas to further enhance the school, student experiences, and the education profession.

“I'm so grateful and excited to be with this team,” Mrs. Nelson reflected. “This school year is already shaping up to be a Champion Year!”
